Curriculum

Our Pre-school curriculum is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum.

Curriculum Areas

The curriculum is divided into seven areas, three prime and four specific areas.

Three Prime Areas

 

 

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Self-confidence and self-awareness

  • Managing feelings and behaviour

  • Making relationships

Communication and Language

  • Listening and attention

  • Understanding

  • Speaking

Physical Development

  • Moving and handling

  • Health and self-care

 

Four Specific Areas

Literacy

  • Reading

  • Writing

Mathematics

  • Numbers

  • Shape, space and measures

Understanding the world

  • People and communication

  • The world

  • Technology

Expressive Arts and Design

  • Exploring and using media and materials

  • Being imaginative

For two year olds the curriculum concentrates on the three prime areas.

 

For three and under five year olds the curriculum concentrates on the three prime and the four specific areas.
